Important Notice – Please Read Carefully Before Use

To ensure safe and proper operation of Docan Energy LiFePO4 battery packs, all users must strictly follow the safety guidelines below. Improper installation may cause bodily injury or fatal accidents to installers, operators and third parties, as well as damage the battery and connected equipment.

Batteries carry inherent safety risks. Wear proper protective gear and use standard specialized tools during all operation and maintenance work. Only personnel with professional battery knowledge and certified safety training are allowed to conduct battery maintenance.

Any battery damage, personal injury or fire accident arising from violation of these instructions will void the product warranty. Docan Energy shall not be liable for any quality failures or consequential damages caused by non-compliant usage.

1. Charging Safety

  • Charger Compatibility: Only use dedicated LiFePO4 chargers with CC/CV (constant-current constant-voltage) charging mode. Other types of chargers and reverse charging are strictly forbidden.
  • Voltage & Current Limits: Charging voltage shall never exceed the maximum rated value marked on product datasheets or labels; charging current shall not surpass the specified limit. Stop charging immediately once the battery reaches cut-off voltage.
  • Temperature Range: Only charge within the ambient temperature range specified in datasheets. Charging below 0°C is completely prohibited and will lead to permanent battery damage. The battery will automatically cut off charging when hitting the low-temperature threshold stated in specifications. If charging current is detected under low temperature, disconnect the battery at once and contact our service team.
  • Polarity Verification: Confirm positive/negative polarity before wiring. Connect terminals strictly following printed marks and manuals. Reversed polarity will cause severe, irreversible damage to the BMS and battery cells.
  • Charging Duration: Avoid overlong continuous charging, which may trigger overheating, thermal runaway and fire hazards. If charging stops abnormally, fully diagnose and resolve the root cause before reusing the battery.
  • Post-Charging Tips: Use the battery promptly after full charge to avoid capacity loss from self-discharge.

2. Discharge Safety

  • Current Limits: Continuous discharge current cannot exceed the maximum rated value in datasheets. Excessive discharge current causes overheating, shortens cycle life and activates BMS overcurrent protection.
  • Temperature Range: Discharge only within the approved ambient temperature range. Discharging below the minimum safe temperature is prohibited and impairs both safety and battery performance.
  • High-Temp Protection: Under normal operation, battery temperature must stay below the maximum safe limit in datasheets. The BMS shall shut down the battery automatically if this threshold is exceeded.
  • Timely Recharge After Discharge: Recharge the battery within 12 hours after full discharge to prevent self-consumption from dragging voltage down to over-discharged or 0V state. Charge immediately once cut-off voltage is reached.

3. Over-Discharge & 0V Battery Warning

  • Long-term over-discharge or storage below the minimum specified voltage leads to irreversible capacity attenuation, increased internal resistance and BMS lockout. Docan Energy provides no warranty coverage for defects caused by over-discharge or out-of-protection voltage levels.
  • Charge the battery regularly during daily use to maintain voltage within the recommended range and avoid over-discharge.
  • The built-in BMS does not support recovery charging for 0V batteries. If the battery drains to 0V, it will suffer severe performance degradation or permanent damage, which is excluded from warranty service.
  • If low-voltage protection disconnects the load, recharge the battery as soon as possible, within 12 hours at most.

4. Storage & Daily Maintenance

  • Storage SOC Setting: Adjust the battery’s state of charge to the storage SOC recommended in datasheets for long-term storage. Storing fully charged or fully depleted batteries for extended periods shortens service life. Execute regular charge-discharge cycles during long storage to balance cell performance. The storage cycle after receipt shall not exceed 6 months.
  • Storage Environment: Store batteries in cool, dry areas with relative humidity complying with datasheet limits. Refer to specifications for exact temperature requirements. Keep away from direct sunlight and flammable substances.
  • Periodic Supplementary Charging: Top up the battery regularly to offset self-discharge and prevent over-discharge or 0V voltage drop.
  • Environmental Protection Requirements: Store in dry, cool conditions matching datasheet temperature standards. Prevent moisture, water splash and static electricity; never submerge the battery in liquid.
  • Long Idle Rule: Remove the battery from equipment if it will remain unused for a long time.

5. Power-On & Power-Off Wiring Sequence

  • Power-Up Order: Connect B- first → voltage sampling wires → B+ → finally P- and P+ to load or charger.
  • Power-Down Order: Disconnect charger and load first → B+ → voltage sampling wires → B-.
  • Do not wire or disconnect terminals when the system is powered on or loaded. Wrong power sequences damage the BMS and trigger protection failures.
  • For multi-battery parallel systems: Power on sequentially starting from the master battery; follow the identical sequence for power-off.

6. General Operation Precautions

  • Visual Inspection: Cease usage instantly if the battery casing has deformation, dents, swelling, punctures or other damage. If abnormal odor, overheating, discoloration or distortion occurs, disconnect the battery from devices/chargers immediately and discard further use. Damaged or swollen batteries cannot be put into service; contact Docan Energy right away if you receive defective goods.
  • Installation Location: Install and operate batteries in dry, well-ventilated spaces, far from direct sunlight, open fire, flammables and combustible gas. Avoid environments with strong static electricity or intense magnetic fields; do not mount batteries in flood-prone zones.
  • Ventilation & Clearance: Reserve sufficient ventilation space per local regulations. For indoor enclosed installation, ensure room volume meets fire control and building code standards to avoid accumulation of flammable gas.
  • Mounting Rules: Install strictly following the orientation specified in datasheets. Secure the battery firmly on flat solid surfaces, and fasten power cables tightly to avoid friction sparks. Do not wrap the battery in plastic shells or use plastic connectors for power circuits.
  • Handling Heavy Batteries: Batteries have heavy weight. Use lifting tools or team lifting during installation and transport. Confirm bearing walls and supports can fully withstand the battery weight before mounting.
  • Short-Circuit Prevention: Strictly avoid short-circuit risks. Keep metal tools, conductors and metal accessories away from terminals. Do not bridge positive and negative poles with metal objects. Separate batteries from metal parts during transport and storage. Use fully insulated assembly tools; prevent wire scraps, solder residue and metal debris from touching circuit boards.
  • Stacking Limits: Do not place heavy objects on top of batteries. Double-check polarity and terminals before finishing assembly wiring.
  • No Hot-Swapping: Do not connect or disconnect power terminals and accessories while the battery is charging or loaded. Cut off power completely before any wiring operation.
  • Anti-Impact Protection: Do not drop, throw, hit, trample or bend the battery. Avoid mechanical vibration, collision and extrusion. If the battery falls onto hard ground, stop using it immediately even without visible exterior damage.
  • Forbidden Modification & Disassembly: It is prohibited to disassemble, extrude, bend, puncture or break the battery pack. Do not pierce cells with sharp objects, weld directly on battery casing, alter BMS circuits, wiring or shell, or insert foreign objects into connectors and vents. Unauthorized disassembly or modification without written approval from Docan Energy risks electric shock and fire, and invalidates all warranty coverage.
  • Cleaning Rules: Do not spray liquid cleaners on any part of the battery internal or external.
  • Series & Parallel Connection Standards:
    1. Only Docan Energy battery packs of identical model, matching specifications and similar SoH (State of Health) can be connected in parallel. Mixing batteries of different models, capacities or brands within one system is forbidden.
    2. Series connection of battery packs is strictly prohibited unless clearly permitted by product specifications. Unspecified series wiring may break modules, as BMS and internal components are not designed for series configuration.
    3. Before parallel connection, align the voltage and SOC of all battery packs to avoid surge current caused by large voltage differences.
    4. Turn off all battery circuit breakers and BMS units before parallel wiring. Assign exclusive unique address codes to each battery with no duplicates.
    5. After finishing parallel wiring, power on batteries one by one starting with the master unit; follow the same order for power-off.
    6. Total system voltage and current after parallel connection cannot exceed the lowest rated parameter among single batteries. Verify external equipment and cables can bear the total load.
    7. Do not connect swollen, leaking, physically damaged or severely degraded batteries into the system.
    8. Contact the Docan Energy technical team to confirm safety and feasibility if you have any doubts about connection schemes or operating steps.

7. System Installation & Maintenance Safety

  • Qualification Requirement: Only certified professionals are allowed to install, repair and maintain battery systems. All operations must comply with product manuals, standard operating procedures and local electrical, construction, fire and utility codes. Consult the local Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) to obtain permits before installation.
  • Personal Protective Equipment: Installers must wear qualified insulated protective gear to prevent electric shock, arc flash injury and chemical hazards from electrolyte.
  • Power Cut Verification: Before installation or maintenance, switch all battery breakers to OFF position, and use a voltmeter to confirm zero voltage.
  • Grounding Standard: Complete reliable grounding for the battery in accordance with industry standards.
  • Wiring Inspection: Inspect all wiring before startup or maintenance to confirm compliance with specifications and intact condition. Use matching communication cables for external device connection; standard network cables cannot be substituted. Secure all battery and component terminals tightly, and keep battery cables at proper length to reduce voltage drop.
  • IP Rating Compliance: Use the battery pack strictly within the dust and waterproof rating marked on datasheets. Docan Energy will not provide warranty for damage caused by water or dust intrusion.
  • Label Preservation: Keep all warning labels and nameplates on the battery fully visible; do not remove or cover them.
  • Keep Away From Children: Prevent children from touching or misusing batteries and supporting systems.
  • Unattended Operation Ban: Do not leave the battery unattended during installation before it reaches a safe stable state. Do not lean against, touch or place tools on the battery and wiring terminals.

8. Liquid Leakage, Fire & Emergency Handling

  • Electrolyte Exposure Treatment: Avoid direct skin, eye and clothing contact with leaked electrolyte. If contact happens, flush the affected area continuously with abundant clean water for at least 15 minutes and seek medical treatment immediately. Take off contaminated clothing at once and ventilate the surrounding area fully. If electrolyte is swallowed, drink plenty of water or milk; do not induce vomiting for unconscious patients and rush to hospital. Humans and animals must never ingest any battery internal materials.
  • Liquid Isolation: Keep batteries away from seawater, fresh water, rain, beverages and all other liquids. Corrosion caused by moisture penetration creates major safety risks. Do not spray water or liquid cleaners on the battery. Do not install batteries in dusty, humid environments where debris may enter the casing. Separate batteries from conductive materials, strong oxidants and corrosive acid substances.
  • Fire & Explosion Prevention: Strictly isolate batteries from open flame, explosives and high-temperature heat sources. Never incinerate batteries, as combustion triggers violent explosion and releases highly toxic gas. Do not transport batteries together with flammable, explosive or corrosive cargo in the same vehicle.
  • Thermal Runaway Judgment & Emergency Response:
    1. Warning Signs: Stop operation and evacuate immediately if the battery shows swelling, abnormal odor, hissing noise, overheating or smoke.
    2. Emergency Operation: These symptoms indicate thermal runaway, which may lead to fire or explosion. If conditions allow, move the battery to an open, non-combustible safe area, call the local fire department, and notify Docan Energy service team for technical support.
  • Toxic Gas Reminder: Ruptured lithium batteries release toxic gas. Do not attempt to repair damaged cells; move them outdoors and seek professional disposal support.

9. Communication Cable & BMS Operation Notes

  • When connecting host computers or external devices for data communication, use matched transmission cables and correctly link communication lines to BMS ports and PC interfaces.
  • If communication fails, check wiring connections and parameter settings. DIP switch and protocol selection must follow datasheet standards; incorrect settings cause communication breakdown.
  • Follow wiring definitions in specifications when connecting inverters and other external equipment.
  • Some configuration tabs inside BMS software are reserved exclusively for authorized technicians. Unauthorized parameter modification voids warranty and may permanently damage the battery system.
  • For multi-pack parallel systems: Only the master battery can communicate with inverters; all slave batteries must be assigned independent unique address codes.

10. Transportation & Handling Rules

  • Do not ship batteries together with flammable, explosive or corrosive goods. Avoid heavy stacking during transit.
  • Shield products from rain, snow and mechanical collision damage during transport.
  • Use forklifts or specialized handling tools for loading and unloading. Handle gently; no throwing or extrusion. Separate batteries from acid, alkali and other corrosive substances during storage and transit.

11. Operation Monitoring & Quality Traceability

Customers must deploy battery monitoring management systems to track and protect each battery unit in real time. Complete full-lifecycle operation records shall be retained for fault diagnosis and quality liability judgment. Docan Energy shall reject warranty claims if complete monitoring data of the battery’s whole service life cannot be provided.

12. Waste Battery Disposal

LiFePO4 batteries contain recyclable raw materials and cannot be discarded as domestic waste. After end-of-life, do not abandon or mishandle batteries; deliver them to local certified recycling institutions following official disposal guidelines.

Disposal standards differ across regions; all users must comply with local and national laws regulating waste lithium battery treatment.
